The opening of Suai Highway (Section 1)
The opening ceremony of Suai Highway (Section 1) was held on Nov 17th, which is the first high way undertaken by the CRFG in the overseas market.
There were over thousands of people attending the ceremony including Mr. Agio Pereira, the minister of State and Presidency of the Council of ministers and acting minister of Petroleum and Minerals; Mr. Salvador Pires, the minister of Public Works; Mr. Jose da Silva, the minister of transport and communications; the commander in chief of defense force; the members of parliament; the national polices; Mr. Xiao Jianguo, the ambassador of Chinese embassy in Timor-Leste, the diplomats from other countries and the representatives of industry and commerce. Mr. Chen Shiping, the general manager of China Railway International Group (CRIG), Mr. Guowei, the vice-presidentof China Railway First Group (CRFG), Mr. Qiao Young, the overseas business department of CRFG, and the leaders of the CRFG branches contracting to build the project were invited to attend.
At 10am, the opening ceremony started officially. Mr. Salvador Pires introduced the general information of Suai High-way and appreciated the contribution from all related authorities, contractors and supervisions constructing the high-quality and benchmarking infrastructure project for Timor-Leste.
Mr. Agio Pereira representing the Prime Minister delivered the important speech. He fully affirmed and highly praised the success of Suai High-way section 1. The opening of Suai High-way achieved the high way dream of Timor-Leste.
Xiao Jianguo highly praised the excellent construction and quality management ability establishing the good brand image of Chinese enterprise. Also, the CRFG fulfilled the social responsibility actively and benefited the local people. He hoped that the CRFG would continually participated the local key livelihood projects, push the Belt & Road initiative rooting in the Timor-Leste and make new contribution to the development of bilateral relations between two countries.
Suai high- way section 1 is the first project that the COVEC-CRFG contracted and performed, also the biggest transport infrastructure construction project since the nation-building of Timor-Leste.
The length of the section 1 is 30.355 km and the CRFG undertook the 2/3 civil construction and the full line of asphalt pavement paving.
Since the project commenced on Jan 2016, The CRFG overseas business department made the completed plan and actively guided the participation of branch 2, 3, and 4. The safety and quality of the project was fully controlled and achieved the good economic and social benefits. The project is completed smoothly on Oct 7th, 2018.
The design criteria of Suai high-way are two way four lanes, the max speed is between 80-100km and the total length is 155.679km, which is the key project included in the Timor-Leste’s 20 years strategic development plan, the main part of infrastructure construction in the south with the great significance for the local social development..
The ambassador of Chinese embassy in Timor-Leste, Mr Xiao Jianguo, inspected the main camp of COVEC-CRFG Suai high-way project department between Nov 16th and 17th.
